We hope you had a great weekend and a productive Monday, and we are so, so excited to share that Pause For has exceeded 1,000 users less than two months after its release. Thank you so much for your continued support. Your feedback has been endlessly helpful for us, and your gifts are making a huge difference. You have already donated over 1 million kin to your causes! That’s over 192 trees planted, 56 dogs vaccinated against heartworms, and 1,151 meals fed to hungry American families.

Pause For is excited to announce a new partner who is backing donations from November, as well as additional donations made for the rest of the year! Blockchain Benevolence is a 501(c)3 approved charity capable of accepting all cryptocurrency donations in addition to fiat. This offers significant tax benefits to donors who hold cryptocurrencies that have appreciated in value over the past several years.

With the help of Blockchain Benevolence, we are able to offer a new giving opportunity: The gift of sight. Cataracts are the world’s most common cause of preventable blindness, and this condition can be cured with a simple 10-minute surgical procedure. The supplies to perform cataract surgery cost only $25. To make these surgeries happen, Blockchain Benevolence has partnered with cureblindness.org, an organization that has facilitated over 625,000 cataract surgeries in multiple developing nations, including India, Nepal, Ethiopia, Ghana, Bhutan, Myanmar and Rwanda. This organization was founded by Dr. Sanduk Ruit, and Dr. Geoff Tabin, whose goal is to offer cataract surgery to anyone who needs it worldwide.

We are so excited to announce the first version of Pause For is now available for Apple users!

You’re all set to get productive and start earning cryptocurrency to spend on causes that matter to you.

Don’t worry, Android users—we’re coming at you in the next month or two.

This is a beta version, so we do expect some bugs and kinks to work out.

We appreciate your patience as we work through this first release, and we’d love feedback, so don’t forget to leave a review on the App Store if you’re enjoying it, and report issues to contact@pausefor.us or in the Help tab on the app.

What does Pause For do?

Hello, everyone! With the iOS launch coming up within the next couple of weeks, we wanted to give a more in-depth explanation about the Pause For process.

Here are some screencaps of the basic functions you can expect.

First, set your pause time (between 10 and 60 minutes) and see how much Kin you will earn if you successfully stay focused on your task for the duration.

Pause For locks you out of your phone for the selected time–**remember to put your phone on Do Not Disturb**. Upon completion, you will have the option to earn additional Kin by answering short, 3-5 question surveys.

Then you can spend your Kin in the Pause For market! Our current items include meals for American food banks, heart worm vaccinations for dogs from low income families, and trees to be planted around the world.

A frequent question we’ve received is: where does the money come from?

You are not purchasing charity items with your own money. You earn Kin currency by completing pauses, which will be backed by sponsors. If you have more questions, here is our FAQ page. If your question isn’t there, feel free to tweet us!

Welcome to Pause For!

Pause For is an app that combines productivity and philanthropy. Developed by Oroboros, it is set for iOS release this October.

How does it work?

To use Pause For, you simply:

Select an amount of time you would like to focus on a task.
Allow the app to lock you out of your phone
Stay focused on your task for that period of time to earn virtual currency that can be traded for hot meals, clean water, vaccinations for puppies, or shoes for orphans. The charity options will grow as we do.

Take a pause for homework, writing, cleaning, meditating, or spending time with friends–all while earning money for causes you care about!

What’s happening next?

After being accepted into the Kin Developer Program, PauseFor is eligible for funding. However, in order to get the funding in full, PauseFor has to hit certain criteria.

After the app launch in October, PauseFor has to collect 10,000 active users by January.

It’s a big job!
